"DARK AGE OVER IN MINTO" Daily Telegraph, Tue March 23, 2010
Hi guys, came across this newspaper article which talks about how successful mixed public and private housing has been in South- West Sydney. Known as "Minto One" (
http://www.oneminto.com.au/) the estate addresses the social problems which have occurred due to concentrated public housing. Have a read, you'll find that there are some positive reactions to this new model of housing in Australian.

Your thoughts about the article ??

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/years-watching-a-suburb-slowly-die-claymore/story-e6freuy9-1225761735895
This article is about the problems in Claymore, there social housing was similar to Minto and there is 1100 houses all like the old-style Minto housing above. The problems have been around for a long time because the government followed an American social housing scheme which has now been proved to be a failure. The scheme designed houses facing inwards with other hosues, so as you drive through the suburb your seeing the backyards, which doesn't help the look of the streets and encourages gangs/antisocial behavior . The idea of grouping large amounts of housing commission in suburbs, clearly needs to change and i think its a step in the right direction with mixing commission and owners.

But just as the government realise 30 years later the problems with there housing commission designs, in 30 years the government will realise using these new houses really wasn't helping their problems with space.
